A few random thoughts for today

As the new year begins I find myself wondering...will this year be less stressful than last year? Will my loved ones stay healthy and happy? Is my job safe? Where should I go on vacation? Not all of these questions carry the same weight with me - just random thoughts.

Here are my hopes for this year:
Less stress. The last 3 years have really been rough so here's to hoping the worst is behind me, and that whatever stress I do have to deal with, may I have the strength and calm to deal productivity with it.

Good health - You can never have too much of that.

Happiness - Ditto. I am beginning to get some plans together that should ensure I have a lot of happiness. (Is fun the same as happiness? Maybe...)

Fulfillment - I am embarking on my MBA and have a new job so hopefully between the 2 I will be challenged and fulfilled.

Peace - Lots of peace.

Other random thoughts...when is gay marriage going to finally be legal? My bet is only after the Supreme Court makes it so (circa 5? 10 years? Sheesh....) And if they were to vote the other way? I'm leaving. Canada, UK, Portugal, Belgium, Sweden - thankfully the list goes on of progressive, fair-minded countries.

May 2010 be a happy new year!

Labor Day Weekend

For the first time in years, I will be home for Labor Day weekend. I even took today off to have an extra long Labor Day weekend. Not sure what we are doing this weekend - watch Penn State football, barbeque, tennis, clean the house...plans sound more fun than others! No matter what I end of doing, I intend to relax and put the craziness of the world behind me. No thinking about impending layoffs, stock market, health care reform, what do I want to be when I grow up. None of that. It's been a while since I had a proper vacation so I intend to make good use of having 4 days off. I also intend to take some time to appreciate my life, my family, what is great about my life, and how truly fortunate I am. Things have been and can always be, worse. Best to appreciate the good times when you have them!

What I plan to blog about...

I have always been a part time writer (part time meaning when I was in college I wrote more papers, stories, etc. than I care to think about, now many years post college, I write when mood and inspiration strike me - which is only part of the time). I have many unfinished ideas and stories and I plan to work on, current events topics I will blog about, and just life in general. Time to get started.
